San Pablo Avenue in El Cerrito; looking south. San Pablo Avenue at one time was part of the Lincoln Highway the first paved road across America. The Lincoln Highway was dedicated on 31 October 1913. San Pablo Avenue is the current name of a roadway that goes back to the early 1800's. At one time this roadway was a section of a major unpaved land route from San Francisco to Sacramento and the gold mining area of the Sierra Nevada Mountains... and east.

Albany Veterans' Memorial Building can be seen in the middle of the panoramic photo. It was constructed between 1931 and 1932; is located in Memorial Park, and is adjacent to Albany High School.
