Mount Tamalpais from the North

Mark and Neil's excellent adventure!

Mark Sapiro and Neil Mishalov decided to climb the north side of Mount Tamalpais. We started at the Bon Tempe Lake damhead parking lot (elv. 716'), and headed around the northside of Bon Tempe Lake, and then hiked around the southside of Lake Lagunitas. Our intention was to then climb the little used and unmarked Colier Trail. However, we never made it to the Colier Trail. By mistake we climbed an unmarked and undocumented trail that went up adjacent to the west fork of Lagunitas Creek; a lot of bushwacking was involved in our ascent. After our ascent we hiked thru Potrero Meadows (elv. 2,000'), and then dropped down the Kent Trail to the Cross-Country Boys Trail. Then it was back onto the Kent Trail where we hiked down to Bon Tempe Lake where we started this excellent adventure. Some stats: 2,050' climb, 5.5 hours on the trails. Temperature was in the 60's with partly cloudy skies and some wind. Date: 26 April 2002.
